In a campaign to espouse the benefits of a Smart City, the students of Grades VI – VIII of VIBGYOR High School, NIBM under the supervision of teachers, presented a street play at Wanowari on January 16, 2016, on the changing face of Pune. The street play enacted by the students brought to light the benefits of a smart city as well as the role of citizens in accelerating that development. The students highlighted the cultural heritage, the strong human capital and adequate business environment that the city has and how the same can be nurtured, making it one of the smartest cities in India. The play revolved around development in key areas such as increase in public transport, adaptive traffic control, efficient use of energy and water, disposal of sewage and solid waste, appropriate safety and security measures, etc.
Commenting on the initiative, Ms. Jumana Gari, Principal of the school, said, “At VIBGYOR High, education is designed on a broad-based curriculum with the goal to ignite our nation’s young minds. We aim to create future leaders and guide our students in finding the special quality that helps them stand apart from their peers. We believe such exposures will not only encourage the overall development of our students, but also help create responsible citizens of the country.”
